How to Cancel On a Guy
It happens—something comes up—whether an emergency or having to work late—and you have no choice but to cancel your date with that guy you like.
Well, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it. And if you do it the wrong way there’s a chance you and he will have a breakdown in communication, stop talking and end up drifting apart, murdering the chances of a potentially great relationship.
But if you follow my teaching and cancel the date THE RIGHT WAY you’ll continue down the highway of that potential relationship roadmap to success with not even a bump in the road.
The Wrong Way
As I mention in the video above, the mistake a lot of women make is when they cancel they leave everything open-ended. They say something like, “I’m really sorry but I have to cancel our date tonight. I totally wanted to see you but I’ve got to take my talking dog to the vet because his voice is hoarse after opera lessons. Talk to you later. Bye!”
This is a bad idea for a number of reasons. First off, the guy is probably disappointed the date has been canceled. And for a lot of men, they look at things in the worst possible scenario. And so thoughts of she’s canceling to hang out with her friends instead or she didn’t want to go on the date in the first place creep into his mind.
Chances are, unless the guy is a beta wuss-bag, the odds of him asking you out again have decreased because of the cancellation. And that’s not what we want to see happen.
The Right Way
To cancel the right way, simply make concrete plans for a rain check. Yes—it’s that simple! You don’t even need to specify a specific date.
Here’s an example of how to do it: “I’m totally sorry but my dog was dancing and stubbed her paw while she was learning how to do ‘The Running Man’ dance and so I have to take her to the vet. But I definitely want to hang out with you again so once it slows down for me I’ll take you out and we’ll go get some ice cream.”
When you make concrete plans for a future date the guy will know you’re not merely making an excuse.
So when you’ve got some free time coming up be sure to schedule that day and time with the guy for the rain check date.
When you cancel the ball’s in your court and you must be the one to pursue a future date else you run the risk of the interaction between you and he fizzling out.
Of course, as I mention in the video above, if the guy gets angry you’re canceling the date it probably means he’s weird and creepy and that’s a great reason NOT TO go on another date with him. But notice I said if he gets angry and not if he gets disappointed. There’s a huge difference between the two.
Of course, if you’re his date to a wedding he’s going to be in and you cancel on him an hour prior or if you’re his date to a concert and he’s already paid for the tickets and you cancel the day of the concert then yes—the guy has every right to be annoyed and somewhat angry.
In closing, I hope you learned from my How to Cancel On a Guy video and article.
Again, if you cancel a date and you’re still interested in the guy don’t just sit back and wait for him to reschedule with you—especially if he’s an alpha male with options. Waiting for him to act is a big mistake and since I’m here to help you attract the right man for you—a ridiculously awesome good guy—I’ve got to reiterate this fact to you.
